This novel carries you back to the medieval era in the 13th century. I had to admit that for the first 100 pages I was having second thoughts about continuing because this novel uses a lot of facts about quantum physics and history. I held on to it, was patient, and totally did not regret spending my time finishing the book because it was worth it. The climax was when the group historians travelled back to the 13th century to rescue their professor and they totally had no idea of the dangers that were ahead of them. You’ll find out what they are when you’ve read it.

This is my first Crichton book and I totally fell in love with it. It’s an intelligent book, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a serious read. It’s both appealing and full of substance!

Are you fascinated or inspired by the miniature components used in mobile phones, iPods and modern aircrafts? Have you ever marvelled at the cutting edge design, technology and processes of the fast-moving aerospace industry?

Discover these leading-edge technologies at the current exhibition on “Digital & Precision Engineering and Aerospace & Aeronautical Technology”, jointly organised by SEG(M) and Library.

Digital & Precision Engineering

The attractive products manufactured by precision engineers are everywhere in our daily lives. The good design and convenient use of these products improve our quality of life. Today, precision engineering has entered the digital era and has expanded into aerospace manufacturing, biomedical engineering, microtechnology and nanotechnology. Aircrafts operate in a variety of operating conditions which determine their shapes and how they are constructed. Their different operating environment, together with constraints of space and weight, require precision engineered components and equipment. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to view devices such as mobile phone stand, carpark light enclosure, projector lens, and needle remover, and find out about the diploma course and the NPES (National & Precision Engineering Scholarship).
Aeronautical & Aerospace Technology

The aviation industry in Singapore has grown to include a broad spectrum of activities spanning aviation services such as maintenance, repair & overhaul (MRO), and manufacturing, assembly, design and testing of aircraft components. Singapore has grown to become an important aerospace MRO hub in the Asia-Pacific region. To support Singapore’s development into a major aviation hub, a strong growth in demand for skilled aerospace engineering technologists is projected. Come and find out about this NYP’s diploma course and what it takes to be a practical technologist conversant in all aspects of aerospace technology. Be intrigued by the showcase comprising F-15E Strike Eage aircraft model, Airbus A380 aircraft model, rapid manufacturing aircraft jet engine turbine blade prototype, posters on Rolls-Royce trent 900 engine, 5-Axis machining of aerospace impeller and more.
Selected library books related to this exhibition are also displayed for browsing and borrowing by Library users. A short video clip on Digital & Precision Engineering course will also be screened from 11.00 am to 5.00pm daily.
