April 2009

The beginning of the new academic year marks an exciting time for the Library to welcome the 2009 freshmen.

Besides orientation talks and library tours, the Library runs a series of customised user education workshops for the SHS and SCL freshmen. In these workshops, the students were introduced to the services and wealth of resources available in the Library. They were taught how to find books, journals and media resources using the Library online catalogue. Library staff also showed the students how to maximise the use of online databases to find relevant articles for their projects and assignments. Students were given the opportunity to have hands-on experience in searching the Library catalogue and databases using the knowledge imparted.

The user education programme provides a fruitful learning experience, both for the students and Library staff.
